The Owner of Two Beautiful Gardens
The Surah Al-Kahf, Chapter 18 of the Holy Quran tells us the story of the owner of two beautiful gardens. Blessed with wealth and prosperity, he became arrogant. He believed his success came from his own efforts and doubted that the Day of Judgment would ever come. His companion reminded him that all blessings come from Allah and that gratitude is essential. Soon afterward, the gardens were destroyed, leaving the wealthy man with nothing.
This story warns us against pride and attachment to worldly success. Wealth, careers, homes, fame, and possessions can disappear in an instant. Real success is not measured by what we own but by our relationship with Allah and the good deeds we send ahead for the Hereafter.
Allah then reminds us that this life resembles rain that causes plants to flourish, only for them to dry up and become scattered by the wind. Youth, beauty, strength, and wealth all fade. What remains forever are righteous deeds performed sincerely for Allah.
We supplicate, “ Oh Allah, the Turner of the hearts, keep us firm in your religion.” Ameen.
اللهم يا مُقلِّبَ القلوبِ ثَبِّتْ قلبي على دينِك. آمين
